33 new residential units in Amsterdam
The numerous years of experience gained by IG Immobilien in the implementation of alternative concepts for the use of former office buildings is currently being demonstrated in Amsterdam. The apartment hotel successfully operated by the tenant ‘A-partment’ was extended by 33 residential units and handed over to the operator. IG Immobilien is responding to the continued strong demand for short-term rental apartments.
The ‘Amsterdam ID Aparthotel’ in the former office complex Teleport N2 ‘Orly Centre’ in Amsterdam is one of the most successful projects in the portfolio of IG Immobilien. The apartment offer has now been extended by an additional 2,000 sqm and 33 residential units. Since the beginning of August 2017, it now includes a total of 127 apartments offered for short-term renting by the tenant and operator ‘A-partments’. ‘In the real estate industry, it is important to react to market changes and trends quickly,’ explains Hermann Klein, Managing Director of IG Immobilien. ‘The European market for office premises has been tense for quite some time, while occupancy rates continue to decline. This is in contrast to the demand for comfortable apartments for short-term stays. Here, we have seen a strong and continuing upwards trend for several years. Therefore, we decided to expand the offer of apartments in the former Teleport N2, ‘Orly Centre’ office building and thus adopted a future-oriented utilisation concept.’
Since 2012, the ‘Aparthotel’ has been developed by IG Immobilien in several phases of construction and now comprises 127 residential units, which are equipped and rented out by ‘A-partments’ as the tenant and operator. Since 2013, the ‘City Identity Apartments’ have been one of the annual winners of the prestigious World Travel Awards in the category ‘Netherlands Leading Serviced Apartments’. With a rating of ‘fabulous’ and ‘8.6 points’, the apartments also score very well on booking.com.
